Lactation energy bites offer a great boost of energy for nursing moms. They are highly nutritious, and prepared with ingredients that are supposed to help milk supply, such as brewer’s yeast, oats, chia, and flaxseeds.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups (180g) old-fashioned oats
  • ½ cup (70g) ground flaxseed
  • 3 Tablespoons brewer’s yeast
  • 2 Tablespoons chia seeds
  • 2 Tablespoons hemp seeds
  • 1 cup (250g) almond butter*
  • 3 Tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ⅓ cup (60g) mini chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, add all the dry ingredients, and mix until combined. Add almond butter, honey, vanilla, and mix on low speed until mixture is well combined. Stir in chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  2. Roll mixture into 1-Tablespoon sized smooth balls and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Place in the refrigerator for 30 minutes or enjoy right away. Once the bites have set, transfer them to an air-tight container and store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks, or freeze in freezer-safe bags for up to 3 months.

Notes

* You can replace with peanut butter, or even with cashew butter.
