A dream come true: welcome to the world, sweet baby girl Lucie! ♥
Our little Lucie was born on May 21st and filled our life with love from the first second we met her. She is a happy healthy baby, and truly a miracle in every sense of the word.
David and I couldn’t be more thankful for our daughter’s big entrance into the world. “Designed” in USA and born in Canada from French parents, Lucie already has for sure a great taste for adventures! She adapted easily to different cultures during the course of my pregnancy and came into the world safely, delivered by a wonderful team of Canadian midwives in just a few hours. I couldn’t have dreamed better.
We didn’t know what we were expecting: a boy or a girl; we kept it a surprise until the end. When we finally got to hold our little girl into our arms, we naturally named her Lucie, symbol of light and illumination. This name also reminds us of the Swedish tradition of Santa Lucia, an ancient ceremony where a little girl wearing a white gown with a crown of candles on her head is elected to portray Lucia.
This photo was taken week 40 and 4 days. While waiting to meet our sweet baby girl, I put on the dress I had when David and I got married in Sweden 4 years ago (we later got married in a more traditional way in France). Nearly 3 days later, I finally got to meet baby Lucie and hold this little bundle of joy in my arms. Precious!
As I now begin this new life as a mom, with its whole set of adjustments, I feel extra thankful and try to enjoy every single precious moment. It’s been such a journey, from my endless journey to becoming a mother where I shared all my struggles, until the day I announced my pregnancy, it sometimes feels unreal that I have eventually become the mom of this adorable little baby. I want my story to bring you hope if you’re also facing these struggles.
I will now return to my little baby girl and take things slowly for the next few weeks. While you’ll continue to see Del’s cooking twist in action on social media, through the newsletter, and here on the website, new recipes won’t be published as frequently. But I won’t be very far and will be checking in periodically!
