With just 5 minutes ahead of you, some fresh fruits in your refrigerator and a handful of superfoods in your pantry, you can prepare a healthy smoothie bowl for breakfast! Smoothie bowls are so versatile, colorful, and packed with wonderful nutrients, vitamins and fiber. This mango smoothie bowl is no exception. Made entirely vegan, it will brighten up your morning and make you feel good and energized both inside out!

A colorful healthy breakfast

So refreshing and nutrient dense, with no cholesterol, this mango smoothie bowl is high in dietary fibers, high in vitamin C and B6, while the superfoods are a good source of antioxidants. It is also a great way to incorporate fruits in your daily diet and make you eat some additional superfoods thanks to the topping you choose. A beautiful way to start the day.

The ingredients you need:

  • Frozen mango chunks. It’s the little tropical touch to the smoothie (read below why it’s important to use it frozen).
  • Frozen banana. Alternatively you could go for fresh banana (and same goes for the mango), but I find that using frozen fruits make the smoothie creamier in texture.
  • Coconut milk. It makes the smoothie naturally dairy-free and brings a lovely additional tropical touch to this smoothie. Plus coconut milk is thicker and creamier than milk and brings a smooth and perfectly creamy texture to your smoothie bowl.
  • Blood orange juice. You can choose ready-to-use blood orange juice for a quick version or go the extra mile by using blood oranges and extract the juice up to ⅔ cup.
  • Passion fruit. The subtle and delicate tropical touch to top it off!

How to make your smoothie bowl

Making this mango smoothie bowl is very easy and ready in no time.

  1. Start with blending the frozen mango and banana with the coconut milk and orange juice in a high power blender, until completely smooth.
  2. Then, pour into serving bowls.
  3. Garnish with passion fruit, and add the superfood toppings of your choice (here chia seeds, goji berries and toasted coconut). Make it pretty, it will lift up your mood for the day!

FAQ

Do the ingredients need to be frozen? Not necessarily but if you want to obtain a very creamy, thick and refreshing texture I highly recommend it.

How to make your smoothie bowl thick? Use frozen fruits or freeze your fresh fruits overnight, then add the minimum liquid needed to blend them.

Can I prepare it in advance? Absolutely. For best results I recommend you blend all the ingredients for the smoothie and keep it covered in the fridge overnight (not longer). The following day, give it a good stir, serve into bowls, then add the remaining ingredients (passion fruits and superfood toppings).

Can I keep any leftovers? You could, but the smoothie would loose of its flavors, so I personally would advise against. Plus, you usually finish the bowl even before you ask yourself the question. Just sayin’!
